In June 2023 we received a desperate cry for help from Kherson. We were asked to contribute to purchase an inflatable boat and an engine. Our organization sent the necessary funds immediately to Kherson and within 48 hours Ukrainian volunteers were able to receive the boat.
Here is the note we received: “Want to thank everyone again who donated to my Ukraine Flood Victims Rapid Response Fund. A special thank you to Musicians Defend Ukraine Foundation, Charlotte for Ukraine, Southern Guitar Festival and Competition, Marina Alexandra, and Ernie Adler. The purchase of a motorboat was an incredibly important, timely, and effective donation because of its lifecycle from humanitarian to military use.
Together, our boat aided in the evacuation of people and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the flooded villages in Kherson. Now we just handed the boat over to the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces to protect us from russian incursions from the left bank of the Dnipro River.
We still have donor funds left to help the people in Kherson, so we will be adapting our Response Fund to another need: clean water. Will post an update soon.
